A little about myself
Hi, my name is Sheila and I am Blackislecrafts.
I love all kinds of craft but my main crafts are Patchwork and Quilting, Spinning and Knitting.
Thirty years ago I married a farmer, moved to my husband's family farm on the Black Isle and took up spinning. We did have our own sheep then and I learned how to spin from fleece. A few years later I found the Patchwork and Quilting which took over my life, I passed my City & Guilds in Patchwork and Quilting and ended up teaching three classes a week!
The spinning took a back seat until about three years ago, I wanted to get back to knitting - my mother taught me to knit before I started school. I was quite shocked at the price of wool, so I decided to dust down the wheel and get spinning again. It's far cheaper to spin your own yarns than buy it from the shops (that doesn't mean that I don't buy yarn from the shops, because I still do !) but spinning is so lovely and relaxing and so satisfying.
The Patchwork and Quilting is always there. I always have a quilt in the making and if everything goes to plan I am hoping to start teaching again.
